The Problem

Young divers are learning from
a language built for adults.

The core concepts of diving — pressure, equalisation, buoyancy, the buddy system — have been taught in the same technical language for decades. That language was designed for adults. Children encounter the same content through an explanation that never touches their world.

The result: memorised but not understood knowledge. Certificates earned but rules never internalised. Awareness that fails to activate when it matters most — underwater.

Physics doesn't change. Dive rules don't change.
What needs to change is how we explain them.

The Programme

What is Beyond Junior?

Beyond Junior is a digital education programme for young divers aged 8–14. It helps them understand the core concepts they encounter in formal dive training — in a language that matches how they actually think — while building the situational awareness, environmental consciousness, and mindful diving approach that define the Rubelis philosophy.

Twelve learning missions present physics, biology, and safety concepts through stories, questions, and discovery tasks designed for young minds. This is not a certification programme — it is a layer that deepens whatever formal training your child is doing.

Pedagogy

Why do children learn differently?

01

Same physics, different mind

Pressure, Boyle's Law, equalisation — these don't change. But the way a child processes these concepts is fundamentally different from an adult. Abstract formulas need to become concrete experiences and analogies.

02

Not rules — meaning

"Ascend slowly" is a rule. "If you hold your breath, your lungs can be damaged because..." is meaning. Children internalise reasons, not instructions — and a child who understands the why behaves more safely underwater.

03

The curiosity engine

Children are natural investigators. When guided by the right questions, they discover knowledge rather than receive it. Beyond Junior uses this curiosity engine as its primary fuel.

Who It's For

Who is it for?

Preparation

A child thinking about starting to dive

Not yet in the water, but the curiosity is there. Beyond Junior introduces the world of diving conceptually — equipment, physics, the marine environment. A solid mental foundation before formal training begins.

Reinforcement

A child in Open Water or Junior dive training

Training is underway. The ideal moment to reinforce everything being learned in the pool or open water, answer the "why?" questions, and deepen awareness alongside the practical skills.

Deepening

A child who is already a junior diver

Certificate earned, dives happening. But dive philosophy, environmental awareness, and situational consciousness are not measured in certification exams. Beyond Junior adds that layer.

Methodology

How does the programme work?

Every learning mission follows a four-stage cycle. This cycle moves knowledge from memorisation to genuine understanding.

SEE

See

Each mission opens with a scenario or visual drawn from a real dive environment.

UNDERSTAND

Understand

The concept is explained in language connected to the child's everyday experience.

THINK

Think

Questions and scenarios engage the child actively. Instead of receiving information passively, they process it, make connections, and question.

APPLY

Apply

The mission task: apply what was learned to a real dive situation. What would you do? Why?

12 missions, 4 stages, one cycle — a little deeper every time.

Achievement System

Badges

Every completed mission earns a badge. Badges mark the areas where a child has genuinely learned — no leaderboard, no addictive mechanics. Just a concrete trace of real progress.

Ocean Detective

Complete underwater observation missions

Buddy Guardian

Finish all buddy system missions

Calm Diver

Pass the calm decision-making scenarios

Sea Keeper

Complete the environmental awareness missions

Digital Identity

Beyond Junior Dive Passport

Every child gets their own digital passport. Name, avatar, completed missions, earned badges, and a progress map — all in one place. A trace worth sharing.

For Parents

Parent Guide

The programme supports parents as well as children. The Parent Guide walks you through how to accompany your child's dive journey, which conversations to open and how, and how to support the learning process at home.

Environmental Awareness

The ocean is not our playground.
We are its guests.

In every Beyond Junior mission, environmental awareness is not a backdrop — it is at the centre of learning. Not touching marine life, not kicking fins over sand and coral, observing the seabed and moving on — these are taught as meaning, not as rules.

When children internalise that they are guests of the ocean, that awareness carries into adulthood. This is the foundation of the Rubelis dive philosophy.

Important Information

What this programme is not

Beyond Junior is not a water skills or practical dive training programme.

This programme is a digital education layer built on conceptual understanding, awareness, and dive philosophy. To dive in open water, a certification from an accredited dive training organisation (PADI, SSI, CMAS, or equivalent) is always required.

Minimum age requirements for diving vary by country. The local regulations of the country where diving takes place, and the age policies of the relevant dive organisation, always apply. Participation in this programme does not replace any dive certification or dive permit.
