The Rubelis Beyond Educational Framework: A Situational Awareness-Based Approach to Complementary Recreational Diving Education

This document is the open-access, DOI-registered academic publication of the methodology underpinning the Rubelis Beyond educational programme. The framework addresses development in recreational diving beyond technical proficiency, and systematically defines the processes of observation, interpretation, anticipation, decision-making, and reflective learning.

The educational logic of Rubelis Beyond is built on this framework. Situational awareness, judgment, and reflective learning — three core dimensions — are directly reflected in the programme's module structure, assessment approach, and learning design. The framework has been published in English on Zenodo and documented with a permanent DOI.

This methodology document does not replace foundational dive certification, any dive agency standard, or legal diver competency requirements; it defines a complementary educational approach that builds upon them.
